2026 Demon Volleyball Tryouts
The Golden High School Volleyball coaching staff is excited to welcome everyone to the 2026 season! Please read through the information below carefully, as it contains everything you need to know before tryouts begin. Our goal is to make the process as clear and transparent as possible for all athletes and families.
Registration & Clearance
All athletes must be fully registered and cleared before participating in tryouts. Registration should be completed through Arbiter Sports using the link below, and a current sports physical is required as part of the registration process. All registration requirements must be completed by August 1 to ensure your paperwork is processed before tryouts begin. If you experience any issues during registration, please contact Amber Hayes at amber.hayes@jeffco.k12.co.us for assistance.
All athletes are required to bring a printed copy of their final clearance email from Amber Hayes to check-in on the first day of tryouts. Athletes who do not provide a printed copy of their clearance email will not be permitted to participate in tryouts.
Tryout Attendance
Tryouts are mandatory for any athlete wishing to be considered for a 2026 Golden High School Volleyball team. Athletes are expected to attend every scheduled session for their designated tryout group. Missing a scheduled day of tryouts will make an athlete ineligible for team selection unless prior arrangements have been approved by the coaching staff due to an extenuating circumstance.
Tryout Schedule
Tryouts will take place August 10, 11, 12. Please plan to arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled start time to allow enough time for check-in and to get ready. Athletes should enter through the entrance located near the staff parking lot and the small gym.

Sealed letters distributed at the conclusion of tryouts with final roster decisions
Selection Process
Our coaching staff takes roster decisions very seriously. Every athlete will be evaluated by multiple coaches throughout the tryout process. We will discuss every player extensively before finalizing roster decisions.
Unfortunately, not every athlete who tries out will make a team.
If this season doesn't go the way you hoped, please don't let one tryout define your volleyball journey. We encourage athletes to continue improving, participate in club volleyball or other athletic opportunities, attend our summer workouts next year, and come back ready to compete again.
Decision Letters
To respect every athlete's experience, all decision letters should remain sealed until you have left school property. Please take your letter home and open it with your parents or guardians. This allows athletes to celebrate accomplishments with family or process disappointment privately while respecting the emotions and experiences of their teammates.
If you are selected to a team, your decision letter will also include important information for Thursday and Friday. Please review the entire letter carefully with your parents or guardians.
Questions Following Tryouts
If you have questions regarding your athlete's evaluation or roster placement, I am happy to meet with you after tryouts conclude. To allow our coaching staff to provide timely feedback while also moving forward with preparations for the upcoming season, I ask that all questions be submitted within 48 hours of receiving your athlete's decision letter.
All questions or meeting requests must be submitted via email by Friday at 7:00 PM. We can then schedule a conversation over the phone, in person, or through Google Meet. Requests received after the 48-hour deadline will not receive a response. Requests received via text will not receive a response.
If You Make A Team
Practice shirts will be distributed on Thursday, August 13, at the start of practice.
Practice Schedule for Thursday, August 13th:
-
Varsity: 4:00pm - 6:00pm
-
JV: 6:00pm - 8:00pm
-
L3: 4:00pm - 6:00pm
-
L4: 4:00pm - 6:00pm
There will be no practice on Friday, August 14th. Instead, each team will participate in a team bonding activity before attending Family Information Night.
Family Information Night: 6:30pm Start in the Main Gym
During Family Information Night, we will review program expectations for the season, distribute the season calendar, discuss the 2026 Player and Parent/Guardian Contract, answer questions, and collect Volleyball Booster Club dues.
Please note that Booster Club dues are separate from Jeffco athletic participation fees. These dues directly support our volleyball program by helping fund uniforms, training equipment, team events, senior recognition, and other program needs throughout the season.
Following the meeting, we will host a potluck in the cafeteria. Families will also have the opportunity to purchase Golden Volleyball merchandise and meet our coaching staff and other program families.
Potluck Assignments:
-
Volleyball Booster Club: Pizza
-
Varsity: Desserts
-
JV: Side dishes
-
L3: Drinks
-
L4: Plates, napkins, and utensils

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
On a personal note, I am so excited for the season ahead and incredibly grateful to be a part of the Golden community. I can't wait to get into the gym, get to know each of your athletes, and build something special together this season.
Thank you for your continued support.
Go Demons!
