Golden High School Names Elizabeth Coil as Head Girls Volleyball Coach

Golden, CO – Golden High School is proud to announce the hiring of Elizabeth Coil as the new Head Girls Volleyball Coach. Coach Coil brings a strong blend of high-level playing experience, proven coaching development, and a passion for building well-rounded student-athletes to the Demons volleyball program.

Coach Coil most recently served as the Junior Varsity Head Coach at ThunderRidge High School during the 2025 season, where she led her team to one of their best records in recent years in the very competitive Continental League. Beyond wins and losses, Coach Coil distinguished herself by implementing a comprehensive mental performance program centered around Mind Gym. Through weekly readings, written reflections, and team discussions, she guided student-athletes in developing key skills such as visualization, confidence, resilience, emotional regulation, and positive self-talk—tools that extend far beyond the court.

Prior to her time at ThunderRidge, Coach Coil gained valuable experience at Valor Christian High School, where she served as a lower-level head coach for three years. During her tenure, she worked under highly respected and accomplished coach Jayne McHugh, further refining her coaching philosophy and approach to player development. Her time at Valor helped shape her commitment to building strong team culture, technical skill development, and competitive excellence.

Coach Coil’s background as a student-athlete at the NCAA Division I level provides an additional layer of credibility and insight. She competed for Elon University from 2016 to 2019, where she balanced the demands of high-level athletics with academic success, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Her collegiate experience informs her coaching style, emphasizing discipline, accountability, and a team-first mentality.

Golden High School leadership is excited about the direction of the volleyball program under Coach Coil’s guidance.

Coach Coil expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to lead the Demons program.

My goal is to develop confident, resilient players who represent Golden with pride.”

With a strong foundation in skill development, mental performance, and team culture, Coach Coil is poised to make an immediate and lasting impact on Golden High School Volleyball. The Demons community looks forward to the energy, leadership, and vision she will bring to the program.
